A TOOLKIT TOOL, HOW META...

With necessity being the mother of invention, anyone who has worked on creating campaign toolkits will tell you (probably in therapy) that there must be a better way than designing bespoke 150+ slide Powerpoint deck and distributing the output as a 500MB+ PDF...

After the requirements gathering phase, I proposed a dual-purposed web destination, one side, the SaaS toolkit creation platform, the other, a brand and toolkit repository.

 

What would distinguish this from other existing website builder solutions, was the back-end workflow management and stakeholder approvals requirements, that are unique to each business (in this instance The Coca-Cola Company) and applying the forced function principle to reduce the cognitive load to create the perfect toolkit experience.

Sadly, the final version of this never progressed past a fully-functioning prototype. Coca-Cola put a halt on any new standalone platforms and wanted a solution to sit inside Microsoft product suite. That solution turned out not to be viable, so they keep making their campaign toolkits in the same way they always have, much to the joy of designers and account managers everywhere...
